The Begović cousins are two winemakers from starkly different backgrounds - one based in the northeastern mountains of Slovenia, the other based on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia — whom discovered their long-lost relation to each other over their mutual family lineage in the village of Kozice, Croatia. Literally, “pomalo” means to take it easy, slow down and relax.

100% Frankovka (aka Blaufränkisch) from Slavonija, the Pannonian basin of Continental Croatia grown from volcanic and sandy soils with white clay stones, on a bedrock of slate and granite.

Hand-picked and destemmed, then pressed with 7-14 days of skin maceration with spontaneous fermentation. Racked and aged on fine lees in stainless steel. Lightly sulphured with minimum filtration.

Tasting Notes
Fruity nose offering cherry, red apple, and nutmeg, followed by a crunchy pallet bursting with tart red cherry, red berries, and eastern spices, balanced with lively acidity, gentle tannins and easy drinkability.

Smoked sausage, red potato goulash, lean red meat, and cheesy spaetzle dumplings.
